The University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy invites applications for a full-time, calendar-year, non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor position in Pharmacy Practice, specializing in acute care pharmacy with a content focus on cardiology. This three-year appointment, housed in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Clinical Research, carries responsibilities in clinical teaching, service, and scholarly activity, with the position to be filled as soon as a qualified candidate is identified. Continuation beyond the initial term is expected based on successful performance review. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package. The selected candidate will be expected to develop an exemplary clinical practice model and advance the role of the clinical pharmacist as a clinician scholar.

We seek a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pharmacy committed to expanding our community of scholars that work together and inspire one another in teaching, research, practice, and service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Contribute to the Doctor of Pharmacy and graduate teaching missions of the University by mentoring and teaching graduate, professional degree, and undergraduate required and elective courses for the College.
  • Establish and maintain a high-quality experiential training site at a partnering healthcare institution by developing an exemplary clinical practice model in acute care pharmacy with a cardiology focus. This will involve close collaboration with the clinical site, the Director of Experiential Education, and the Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Clinical Research to support advanced pharmacy practice experiences (APPE) and interprofessional education.
  • Teach in didactic and experiential components of the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum, including core and elective courses related to cardiology, acute care, and pharmacotherapy.
  • Maintain a high level of scholarly activity as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with patients and their families, pharmacists, nurses, residents, faculty, physicians, and other health professionals.
  • Actively contribute to curriculum development and assessment aligned with accreditation standards, and participate in service through committee involvement at both the College and University levels.

    OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Perform other duties as assigned.

    ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
    The incumbent is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
    QUALIFICATIONS

    REQUIRED:

    1. Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited college or university.

    2. Licensed or eligible for pharmacist licensure in Rhode Island.

    3. PGY1 and PGY2 residencies, or equivalent experience (i.e., minimum 5 years of clinical experience).

    4. Clinical expertise within the expansive discipline of acute care pharmacy practice - cardiology emphasis.

    5. Eligibility for or achievement of Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy (i.e., BCCP or BCPS with advanced cardiology certification(s) preferred).

    6. Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

    7. Proficiency in written communication skills.

    PREFERRED:

    1. Evidence of teaching effectiveness in the classroom and clinical/experiential teaching.

    2. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching and clinical practice.

    3. Evidence of scholarly productivity or potential for scholarly contributions.

    4. Ability to teach a broad range of disorders in acute care pharmacy practice and cardiology.
